I am in the process of packaging the VMware Horizon View client for our Mac desktops and laptops (we have about 150). Normally, this is a very simple process, and especially easy with this client since it is just an app.
Please follow the below instructions to install the VMWare Horizon Client for Mac. Download the VMWare Horizon Client installer For Mac OS 10.11 – 10.14. For Mac OS 10.9 and earlier. Double click on the VMware Horizon Client.dmg file to begin the install.
Click “Agree” in the user license agreement window that appears. When the VMWare Horizon Client window appears, drag the “VMWare Horizon Client icon to the Applications folder. The first time you launch the VMWare Horizon Client, you may see a security popup asking if you want to open the file. Click the “Open” button.
When you open up VMware Horizon Client click “New Server” or “+”. Type in desktop.sph.harvard.edu and click “Connect”. After this, it should automatically log you in, if it doesn’t, double click “ICF” Alternatively you can click the link below once VMware Horizon Client is installed.
To view the minimum requirements to install VMWare Horizon Client. If you encounter any issues, please contact our Helpdesk at Department of Information Technology Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
What's new in this version. Use published applications in multi-session mode When multi-session mode is enabled for a published application, you can use multiple sessions of the published application from different client devices. For example, if you can open an app on client A, and then open the same app on client B. The app remains open on client A and a new session of the published application opens on client B.
VMware Blast selects the optimal connection automatically In this release, Horizon Client senses your network conditions and automatically chooses a the best transport. You no longer have to manually select Excellent/Typical/Poor. Improved security The client will block connections with the outdated TLS v1.0. Submitted on 2/7/2017 Review title of JustinFantastic!!!!
So happy to see this app for PC and mobile with continum support. Would love to use a 950 or X3 with the dock and continuum with my virtual desktop at work. App Says it requires View 7 with Blast Extreme but I find it works with View 6 and Horizon DaaS 6.1.5 as long as BLAST is the default protocol.
This is GREAT!!!!!!!!Definitely excited to see the app. Great job VMware!1-17-17 UpdatePCOIP has been added!!!!!!2-7-17App works great.
Only flaw is as an IT pro I often use nested sessions (RDP, or vSphere Console) and the keyboard doesn't seem to pass through to the nested console. That is a bummer for me.
Overall, I'm stoked the app is a UWP!!! And works both from my Lumia Icon and Windows 10 laptop.
